AA OL becomes second star PSU verbal from WPIAL

In a few short (but to Penn State recruiting followers agonizingly long) days, Penn State has managed to land verbal commitments from the top two offensive line prospects in Western Pennsylvania.
The second of those two was confirmed this morning by Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writer Mike White, who assured Blue White Illustrated that the information in this morning's (Jan. 24) Post Gazette regarding Pittsburgh (Pa.) North Hills offensive lineman Mark Farris's intentions to go to Penn State was accurate and came from a reliable source.

Farris (6-6, 290) is ranked as the No.8 offensive guard in the country by Rivals, and the No. 35 overall prospect on offense in the country by G&W Recruiting Report.
The first of those two commitments was Pittsburgh (Pa.) Woodland Hills offensive lineman Brian Borgoyn (6-5, 295), who announced his verbal commitment to Penn State at the beginning of the week.
White, who was the first to break the official information, said Farris cancelled an upcoming visit to Michigan State this weekend.
Nittany Lions' coach Joe Paterno made an in-home visit to Farrris on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
Farris made official visits to Pittsburgh (Dec. 8) and Miami (Dec. 15). Pittsburgh coach Walt Harris and Miami coach Larry Coker made in-house visits to Farris prior to Paterno, North Hills coach Jack McCurry told BWI earlier this week.
Farris visited Penn State the weekend of Jan. 18 and was hosted by former North Hills teammate Andy Richardson. Following the visit, however, Farris told BWI that no decision would be announced until after the now-cancelled visit to Michigan State.
"Everyone is still even, and I definitely won't make up my mind before my last official visit this weekend," Farris said after his visit, adding that he was impressed by Penn State and had an exceptional visit.
Mike White will get "Up CLose & Personal" in a profile of Mark Farris in an upcoming issue of Blue White Illustrated.
Special thanks to Mike White of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette for his contribution to this story.
