Aaron Brooks Wins U23 World Championship in Albania

Penn State's three-time NCAA Champion from Hagerstown, Maryland, Aaron Brooks, added a new accolade to his list with a U23 World Championship at 86 kilograms in Albania.

Brooks went 5-0 in the weight class with wins over Ismail Kucuksolak of Turkey , a 10-0 tech fall over Owen James Martin of Canada, Ivan Ichizli of Moldova, and Arslan Bagaev of the Individual Neutral Athletes in the Semifinals, notching a 5-4 win.

Brooks met Tatsuya Shirai of Japan in the finals, posting a 10-0 tech fall to bring home the World Title in the U23 age division.

Brooks dominated Shirai in the finals, using an ankle pick to earn takedowns and a leglace to finish the match in style.

Brooks now has three National Championships for Penn State and will attempt to win his fourth, and could be come either the first or second four-time NCAA Champion for the Nittany Lions as teammate Carter Starocci will also attempt to accomplish the same feat this year.
