Columbus, Ohio, native Brian Asamoah was back at Penn State Saturday for the annual Blue-White Game.

A three-star athlete, Asamoah is expected to play outside linebacker if he chose the Nittany Lions. Saturday’s visit was his second to State College this spring and third overall, as he previously visited for the Ohio State game last October, as well as a personal visit with the staff in February.

“One thing I really enjoyed was the fans. They were so into it,” Asamoah said. “Since I’m not committed, I didn’t think I’d see a bunch of fans asking about me, but it was the exact opposite. A bunch of people came up to me asking for autographs and pictures. I thought that was awesome. I feel like I’m already part of the family there. It was great.”

In addition to the fans, Asamoah was also given an opportunity to get to know the committed players in the Class of 2018. He then met with some of the current players after the game.

“Yeah, that was one of the best parts of the day,” Asamoah said, when asked if he got to speak with with some of the players that have already committed. “I got to hang out with Ricky Slade, Justin Fields, Justin Shorter, a few others. They all were great to talk with. I enjoyed building a relationship with those guys and some of the other guys I got to meet. Like the fans, they made me feel like I was already part of their family.

“On top of the recruits, I also met a few of the current players already on the team after the game. I was talking to guys like Manny Bowen, Jason Cabinda, Saquon Barkley, Marcus Allen. It was nice meeting those guys.”

Of course, no trip to State College would be complete without a talk with the head coach, James Franklin. Asamoah said that was one of the first things he did when he stepped on campus.

“As soon as I got there, I sat down to talk with Coach Franklin. He was super excited to see me," Asamoah said. "Their interest in me is still very high. He was saying that Coach Pry is going to come see me in two weeks. They’ll actually check in on me twice this spring.”

Since announcing his top six - Penn State, Cincinnati, Michigan, Pitt, UCLA and West Virginia - at the end of February, Asamoah has added offers from Notre Dame, Michigan State, Oklahoma, among others. That’s a big reason why he decided to not stick with his original commitment date, April 21.

Moving forward, Asamoah is set to visit Cincinnati this upcoming weekend. He’d like to see both Oklahoma and UCLA in the coming month or two, but nothing is set at this time. As for a decision, Asamoah said that he plans to announce whenever he feels most comfortable.

“I’m going to take my time and just announce when I’m most comfortable. I don’t want to put any more pressure on myself by setting a date or anything like that.”
