Penn State lands Nordin

Penn State landed its second scholarship specialist in the Class of 2016 Friday when kicker Quinn Nordin announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions.
Nordin, a Rivals.com three-star prospect from Rockford, Mich., is considered the No. 1 kicking prospect in the country, according to KornblueKicking.com. He had previously visited Penn State for its game vs. Michigan State Nov. 29 and visited campus again this winter and spring.

He chose the Nittany Lions over Michigan, Georgia and Arizona State. He also had offers from Bowling Green, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Duke, Illinois, Iowa, Miami (Ohio), Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Texas A&M and Western Michigan.
Nordin earned his Penn State offer in January. It was the first specialist offer to go out under James Franklin, and the first since graduated Sam Ficken accepted his in January 2011. He followed the offer up with a visit soon after and returned for the Blue-White Game in April.
"Going down to Penn State, they had one of the best setups that I've seen," Nordin said in February. "They really made all the families of the recruits and the recruits really feel top of the notch."
At 6-2 and 200 pounds, he's considered a power kicker. He's been recorded booting an 81-yard kickoff and he says his longest KO was 89 yards, which came down in Florida. Currently his longest field goal is a 65-yarder that he kicked when he was in Florida with Kornblue.

Nordin joins punter Blake Gillikin as the second scholarship specialist in Penn State's Class of 2016.
Nordin was also a top lacrosse recruit. He earned his first lacrosse offer when he was 14 years old and garnered a total of 12 offers before deciding to focus solely on football.
Blue White Illustrated will have much more from Nordin in the coming days.
