Georgia offensive lineman Bryson Estes made his way to Penn State last month for his first look at State College, Pa., and the surrounding area.

Despite the fact that he already earned an offer from the staff a few weeks prior, Estes decided to attend the annual Whiteout Camp June 22 to work with offensive line coach Matt Limegrover and the rest of the Nittany Lion coaching staff.

“One of the main things I took away from that was that I really loved working with Coach Limegrover,” Estes said. “He’s laid-back and chill. I like that, but he also knows what he’s talking about. I like Coach [Tyler] Bowen a lot, too. He’s been the one recruiting me the most. He’s from Georgia, too, which is cool.”

In addition to camping with the staff, Estes also toured the Lasch Building and Beaver Stadium.

“I toured everything after the camp with Coach [Kevin] Reihner,” he said. “He’s been recruiting me a lot, too. He took me through their facility and into the stadium. We saw some parts of campus, too. I liked all of that. I just remember seeing all the stuff they’re updating. It should be very nice when it’s done.

"I just liked Penn State overall. It was a really cool area up in the mountains. I liked the area.”

His trip to State College wasn’t the only one he made this summer, as Estes also visited five other programs. So far, Boston College and Mississippi State are the only other Football Bowl Subdivision programs to offer, but it’s only a matter of time until he adds more schools to his offer sheet.

“In June, I went to a lot of camps,” said Estes. “I checked out Penn State, Mississippi State and Boston College. I also went to Clemson, Georgia and Auburn. I know Auburn really likes me and I like them, too, but out of the schools that have offered so far, Penn State and Mississippi State are the two standing out early.”

So, when might he be back in Happy Valley?

“A lot of schools have already been inviting me to games,” said Estes. “I’ve already talked to Penn State about coming back for the game against Michigan during the season. That’s their Whiteout game. That would be pretty cool. I think I’ll also probably see Auburn and Mississippi State. I still have to figure out my schedule, but I definitely want to get back up there to Penn State. I’ll figure it all out soon.”

Listed at 6-foot-3, 260 pounds, Estes is projected to play guard or center at the next level.
