Off-season workouts for football are heating up as Penn State’s winter sports seasons are nearing the conclusion of their regular seasons. Another weekend is in the books at University Park and here are the latest news and notes.
- Penn State early enrollee and five-star defensive back Lamont Wade was honored as Mr. Pennsylvania Football Saturday. A December graduate of Clairton, Wade earned the honor for Classes 1A-3A after being selected as a nominee the previous two seasons. Wade called it a blessing to be able to finally earn the award.
“It’s been a journey for me,” Wade told PennLive.com. “I’m just blessed to be here and to accomplish everything that I accomplished. I can say I’m real proud of myself.”
Throughout his high school career, Wade led his team to three WPIAL titles before a state championship as a senior. In all he posted a 51-5 record and was a first-team all-state selection for three years in a row.
Already taking classes and part of winter workouts at Penn State, Wade joins teammates Saquon Barkley, Miles Sanders and Michael Shuster as former Mr. PA Football winners.
