Penn State still has plenty of work to do with its Class of 2019, but James Franklin and his staff will also host a group of top 2020 prospects next weekend, Feb 2, for its first Junior Day of the new year.

One of the top prospects that’s already confirmed that he plans to attend is Rivals250 cornerback Josh Moten. Listed at 6-foot-1, 170 pounds, Moten attends National Christian Academy in Fort Washington, Md. The four-star prospect has been to University Park before, attending a spring practice last March. Although he wasn’t able to make a game this past season, he’s stayed in contact with assistant coach Terry Smith regularly throughout the fall and now into the offseason.

“I talk to Coach Smith probably everyday now or every other day,” Moten said. “I vibe with him. He’s a good guy. He’s just been trying to get me up there [for a visit]. They really want me to be part of their class.”

Since Moten’s last visit was almost a year ago, he said that there’s a lot that wants to see next weekend. However, there are a few things that he’s already familiar with.

“One thing that I remember is that I loved their locker room,” said Moten. “But I also noticed Coach Franklin and the bond he has with his players. He's fun. I remember that, the day I went, it was salsa day at practice, so they were playing Mexican music and dancing. They just keep it fun.”

Over the past year, Moten has earned more than 20 scholarship offers. Some notable programs include Florida, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin. He’s seen a few schools already and is looking into visiting Kentucky in the coming weeks. At the same time, he made it clear that the Nittany Lions are off to a great start.

“I’ve been to Maryland, Penn State, N.C. State and Clemson. I think I’m going to check out Kentucky after Penn State, but I don’t have a date right now,” Moten said, before adding, “but I’m definitely feeling Penn State. They’re one of my top schools."

In 2018, Moten totaled seven pass deflections and four interceptions. He’s currently ranked No. 130 overall in the Class of 2020. He’s also the 14th-ranked cornerback and seventh-ranked prospect in Maryland.
