Calling the divisions 'X' and 'O' for the time being, the breakdown was as follows:
X: Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Wisconsin
O: Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern
Additionally, there was a set of one per team protected crossover game.
For Penn State, that means a yearly rivalry with Nebraska.
The final result are 2011/2012 Penn State schedules that are now much clearer.
