Penn State Football continued to add to their 2023 recruiting class today as they received a verbal commitment from Light Bridge (VA) offensive lineman Anthony Donkoh.
The 6-foot-5, 310-pound prospect played both offensive and defensive line, but Penn State prefers him on the offensive side of the ball, likely at guard or even potentially tackle.
In the end Donkoh chose the Nittany Lions over four other scholarship offers from programs such as Duke, Liberty, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.
Donkoh spoke with Nittany Nation about his decision not too long after making it Twitter official.
"I committed to Penn State because I love the coaching staff they have up there," Donkoh said. "Plus they also have a great engineering program."
Donkoh went on to talk a little bit about his relationship with the staff.
"When I committed I told coaches (Ja'Juan) Seider, (Phil) Trautwein and (James) Franklin the news," said Donkoh. "They were all excited that I chose to play for Penn State. I've spent a lot of time talking with coaches Seider and Trautwein and they've just been telling me about how much they want me to come join them."
The Virginia native recently visited campus for a Junior Day visit.
"I took a trip to campus on January 15th," he said. "The campus was beautiful and huge. I never thought I’d be standing in one of the biggest stadiums in the country. Also I loved learning about that engineering program, it’s one of the best in the nation and I know that I will get a great education at Penn State.”
At the moment Donkah is ranked a 5.6, three-star prospect and currently sits as the No. 14 player in Virginia, but has the ability to move up in the next rankings update.
