Gibraltar, Mich., wide receiver Ian Stewart confirmed Thursday that he'll make his first trip to Penn State Saturday to take in spring practice.
A 6-foot-3, 185 pound wide out from Carlson, Stewart earned an offer from the Nittany Lions in January. Since then, he's been steadily building a relationship with new wide receiver coach Gerad Parker and has made it clear that he's interested in James Franklin's program.
Stewart has been busy visiting schools this spring. After checking out Michigan State and Ohio State last month, both of which will be serious contenders, he visited Louisville, Kentucky and West Virginia earlier this week. Stewart has also visited Michigan multiple times over the past year, although it appears as if the Wolverines have cooled a bit. Purdue is another program to keep an eye on. He visited with Jeff Brohm and his staff back in February.
Originally a four-star prospect, Stewart dropped to a three-star following the latest rankings. He's in no rush to make a decision and is planning to use his official visits, although it's unclear if those will begin in May and June or wait until the season.
Stewart isn't the only prospect from Michigan making the trip, as the staff will also host 2021 DB Donovan Edwards from West Bloomfield, the same school as current freshman LB Lance Dixon. Edwards already holds an offer from the Nittany Lions, as well as 18 other programs. Some notable schools include Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Pitt, West Virginia and Wisconsin. This will be his first trip to Penn State.
Four other 2020 prospects will join those two: DE Bryce Austin, CB David Carter Jr., QB Anthony Romphf and LB Jordan Turner. So far, the staff is yet to offer, but all of them have already earned at least a dozen scholarship offers. Austin, Romphf and Turner hold well over 20 offers each.
