The Nittany Lions enter week nine of the college football season with a record of 6-1, following their loss to Ohio State on Saturday in Columbus, where they were defeated 20-12, in large part due to a lamentable offensive performance. They'll take on the Indiana Hoosiers this weekend in Happy Valley, the Nittany Lions enter the week as more than a four touchdown favorite.

For Maryland, the Terrapins will be coming off a bye week with a 5-2 (2-2) record and will be preparing to take on the Northwestern Wildcats this weekend in Evanston. Last time out for the Terrapins was disastrous, falling to the Illinois Fighting Illini at home, 27-24. It was the Terrapins second straight loss after losing to Ohio State on October 7, 37-17.

Penn State is 42-3-1 all-time against Maryland and have won seven of nine matchups against the Terps in the James Franklin era. The Terrapins lone wins against Penn State came in 2014 and 2020, both in State College. The Nittany Lions in 15 trips to College Park own a 15-1 record with their last loss on the road to Maryland coming 62 years ago in 1961, a 21-17 loss under then head coach Rip Engle.

In Penn State's last three trips to College Park, the Nittany Lions have defeated Maryland by a combined score of 156-17.
