*This story has been updated to reflect changes since its original publication.

Wide receiver Juwan Johnson will follow up his disappointing junior season elsewhere.

As reported by Bruce Feldman, the veteran Nittany Lion receiver has "just entered the transfer portal" for his final season of eligibility. Having already graduated in December, Johnson is eligible to play immediately regardless of his choice of destinations, having announced he will not return to Penn State via Instagram post.

Tabbed as Penn State's top returning receiver to start the 2018 season, Johnson's year did not live up to expectations.

Finishing third on the team in receptions with 25 for 352 yards and just one touchdown, Johnson struggled with drops throughout the campaign. Targeted 43 times, Johnson led the Nittany Lions with six drops in his 10 games played, his season also stunted by an unspecified injury in the latter portion of the year.

Described by Sports Illustrated as "the necessary first step for any athlete who wishes to transfer to another instution," Johnson is now eligible to be contacted by other college coaches.

UPDATE: 1/11/18

Johnson announced via Instagram that he will not play for Penn State next season.

"After talks with God, my family, and my closest ones, I've decided to not play my final season at Penn State University," wrote Johnson. "First, I am thanking my Heavenly Father for being the father that he is and giving me the ability to be at such a prestigious university. Not only to be here, but to walk away with a degree. Would also like to thank the ridiculous fan base for all the support. Seriously, you guys are everything. PSU fans are second to none and I greatly appreciated them for a tremendous journey. Lastly, I want to thank Coach Franklin for helping me grow as a man,. And the staff for the opportunities I was able to enjoy. It's truly been a blessing. 84 out."
