Notables
- Saf. Garrett Taylor led the defense with 784 snaps of a possible 968. He was also the seventh-ranked player according to Pro Football Focus, earning a grade of 77.4.
- LB Micah Parsons was a the highest-ranked player on defense, scoring a 91.3. Only Ohio State DE Chase Young scored a higher grade (96.1) in the Big Ten.
- Freshman CBs Keaton Ellis and Marquis Wilson, as well as LB Brandon Smith, all played at least 10 games this season. Ellis and Smith played in all 13 games.
- 16 defensive players played in all 13 games for the Nittany Lions in 2019.
