Signed: Tyler Rudolph

WHAT HE DID: Rudolph averaged roughly four tackles a game in 2018. He also had four interceptions, one of which he took back for a touchdown, and two fumble recoveries. His most impressive stat, however, is that he allowed just five competitions in 2017 and 2018 combined. St. Thomas More compiled a 12-6 combined record the past two seasons.

WHAT HE WON: A four-star prospect, Rudolph was named to USA Today's ALL-USA Connecticut Football Team in 2018. He also earned first-team All-NEPSAC and All-New England honors the past two seasons. Rudolph participated in the Rivals Five-Star Challenge in Atlanta this past June and is a member of the Rivals250. He ranks 20th overall at cornerback and is the third-ranked prospect in Connecticut for the Class of 2019.

WHERE HE VISITED: After visiting Clemson in the spring of his junior year, the Tigers emerged as Penn State’s primary competition, but he ultimately committed to the Nittany Lions in May 2018. Overall, Rudolph earned 21 scholarship offers. Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio State, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin were some notable schools.

QUOTABLE: “He’s the kind of kid that will always work hard and is open to playing wherever they put him,” St. Thomas head coach Jeff Moore. “I know he’ll figure it out, too. He has great instincts, so it won’t be hard for him to transition to whichever position they play him at [safety or cornerback]. I’m not concerned with that whatsoever.”
