WHAT HE DID: Miner was a four-year starter are Wiregrass Ranch. For his senior season, he accumulated 1,138 yards of total offense and punched in 10 touchdowns. Miner was also as a shut down corner on the opposite side of the ball. There, he was only targeted eight times his senior season and recorded four pass deflections and four interceptions. He also finished the season with 39 total tackles, 29 solo and 10 assisted, helping Wiregrass to an 8-2 regular season record. The Bulls won its first playoff game before being knocked out in the second round.

WHAT HE WON: In addition to being named first-team all-conference his junior and senior seasons, Miner was named Sunshine Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2017. He was also named first-team all-state his junior season. Florida is yet to announce its all-state teams for 2017. Miner earned a four-star rating by Rivals.com. He's 46th-ranked prospect in Florida's Class of 2018 and No. 22-overall at safety. However, he's expected to play cornerback for the Nittany Lions.

WHERE HE VISITED: Penn State began pursuing Miner in September of his junior season. He earned an offer from the staff just a month later. Following the season, he’d pulled in even more offers from the likes of Auburn, Florida, North Carolina, Ole Miss and Tennessee. He took unofficial visits to Georgia Tech, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia and Auburn, among others. It was his unofficial visit to Penn State in June 2017 that made the biggest impact, though. Miner committed to the Nittany Lions just one month later and had his official visit to campus for the Michigan Game in October.

QUOTABLE: “As I tell my son, this is a 40-year decision. The connections he’s going to make are going to impact him the rest of his life, so we enjoyed seeing how Penn State helps their own. It also breeds a great environment around the facility," said father, John Miner.

PHIL’S TAKE: Miner has shown the ability and athleticism to play the boundary cornerback position at Penn State. He played both free safety and cornerback during his senior season at Wiregrass Ranch HS, while also playing quarterback and wide receiver on offense. He reportedly has 4.7 second 40-yard speed, but it looks like he’s improved his speed when you put on his senior season film. In fact, Miner may have made the biggest strides of any Class of 2018 prospect between his junior and senior seasons. We expect him to play cornerback for the Nittany Lions, but I believe that he could also play free safety at the college level if needed.
